cultivating clinical experience
There is never a “regular day” at Temple Health. The wide range of patient cases we see is invigorating and the variety of treatment options we offer is impressive. Collaborative, high-quality care reigns supreme at Temple. It’s a clinical environment that will drive you, inspire you, and leave you wondering how you ever worked anywhere else.
Expertise in critical care
Hospitals throughout the region rely on the experts at Temple Health to care for their most critically ill or injured patients. In fact, more than 70 hospitals transfer their sickest patients to Temple each month.
We support our clinicians who not only provide excellent patient care but are also innovators in their fields. For example, Director of Vascular and Endovascular Medicine Dr. Riyaz Bashir developed a new catheter to deliver clot-busting medication into the peripheral vasculature.
Advanced Technology to Succeed
The engine of innovation is often powered by technology at Temple Health. But it’s the users of the technology that bring it to life. From our hybrid operating rooms to our surgical robots and advanced imaging capabilities, our clinicians harness technology to provide innovative patient care.
Temple has invested heavily in robotic surgery and is home to one of the world’s most advanced robotic ORs. Our clinicians have everything at their fingertips to perform procedures with precision; the suites also include observation rooms for training, while two of the ORs feature privacy glass.
Opportunities for Research Innovation
Research surrounds you at Temple Health. It’s taking place in the labs at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, in our hospital exams rooms, and in the neighborhoods around us. With supportive leadership, collaborative-minded colleagues, and a diverse patient population, Temple is the ideal place to stake your research claim.
developing therapies to reverse heart failure
We’re raising the bar in the laboratory, at the hospital bedside, and in our physician offices to dramatically improve the lives of patients with heart disease.
Temple researchers Step Closer to a cure for human HIV infection
Groundbreaking—there’s no other way to describe the research of Dr. Kamel Khalili and his team at Temple. Partnering with colleagues from across the country, they have successfully edited SIV—a virus closely related to HIV, the cause of AIDS—from the genomes of non-human primates. This breakthrough brings the research team closer than ever to developing a cure for human HIV infection.
Impacting Healthcare Through Education
Teaching is a strength at Temple. No, it’s more than that—it’s a point of pride. “I trained at Temple” is a mark of honor in the medical community, an indication that you have been well prepared. That’s a tribute to our faculty. Helping our students and trainees build their skills and go on to thrive in their careers—there’s nothing better. If you love teaching, Temple Health is the place for you.
Smarts, sensitivity, and service—that’s what we look for. Our medical students not only come from the highest academic caliber, they also demonstrate a genuine desire to help those in need. Compassion and sensitivity to others are hallmarks of Temple students, who relish the chance to share their time and talents to make our community healthier. And you will have the opportunity to share in their successes.
commitment to the community
Working at Temple Health will remind you why you chose to practice medicine. Our mission plays out right in front of you every day—to care for those most in need and improve their health. As the primary caregiver for North Philadelphia, we are an indispensable provider in America’s largest city without a public hospital. You’ll come to work every day knowing you’re making a difference.
Commitment to Diversity
Diversity and inclusion–two words that get thrown around a lot in today’s world. At Temple Health, they’re the hard-and-fast principles that guide how we care for our patients, train tomorrow’s healthcare providers, build our teams, and create an all-embracing organization. While the journey is ongoing and ever-evolving, this commitment to diversity and inclusiveness is who we are and who we always strive to be.
Valuable Teamwork
We reach our goals together at Temple Health. This team approach is how we improve patient care, become more efficient, and create a stronger organization. It’s how we tackled the COVID-19 pandemic—working together, lifting each other up. Every member of our team benefits from the strength, support, and encouragement of their colleagues and, in this way, is inspired to achieve their own goals. At Temple Health, one person’s success is everyone’s success.
Never has teamwork been more front-and-center—and more vital—than our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. In less than a month, we outfitted an entire hospital to support patients with COVID, and just in time—in the first wave, we treated more COVID patients than anywhere else in the city. Overnight, offices became patient rooms, staff from throughout the hospital became COVID caregivers, and the larger Temple community came together to help supply PPE. To date, we’ve tested more than 40,000 patients for COVID and treated nearly 4,000. None of this would have been possible without the can-do, solid teamwork that is our stock-in-trade.
Be #TempleStrong
Our faculty and staff inspire our city. Temple proudly handles more COVID cases than any other hospital in the region. It is through this selfless dedication and commitment to the community that our Temple team rallies.
Patient-Centric Facilities
Providing patient-centric care goes beyond clinical decision-making. It starts from the moment a patient enters your facility. Temple Health is continually improving the patient experience by investing in facilities and services that create efficient less-stressful visits, such as renovated waiting areas and exam rooms, an on-campus pharmacy, valet parking, private maternity suites, patient discharge lounge and new parking garages. These investments have transformed Temple into one of the region’s most modern, welcoming facilities.
On Campus or Nearby, Everything You Need
We offer on-campus coffee shops, a gym across the street, affordable parking, a well-lit campus, ample security, and restaurants, shopping, and attractions just 10 minutes away in Center City. When at Temple Health, you're never far from what you need.

Beyond Campus

Our network of hospital campuses, outpatient centers, and physician practices spans urban city neighborhoods and leafy suburban outposts. This variety, both in settings and patient populations, keeps your clinical experience and career path fresh at Temple Health.
There’s more to Temple Health—far more—than just our health sciences campus. Our providers often see patients at satellite locations in Center City as well as the suburbs of Fort Washington, Oaks, Elkins Park, East Norriton, and Buckingham.
